A Night On the Town

Autumn is usually the time of year I look forward to most when it comes to the performing arts. After three months of nothing but "Target Presents Art Beat" (which is better than nothing), it's nice to welcome cool weather with great weekend performances. This past fall, however, there were far fewer concerts than normal due to significant lack of funding. This is particularly obvious if you check out Nevada Ballet Theater's 2009/2010 schedule: 4 performance. Yikes. But do not despair! If ever there is a time of year when dance, music, and theater companies are willing to pull out all the stops, it is now. That being said, I've compiled a thorough list of upcoming concerts and events for the week of December 7-12 (Mon-Sat). You're on your own for Sunday, also I didn't include Pictures with Santa because I don't care about that crap. Bah-humbug.

Hopefully you will be able to make it out to a few of these gems-- the quality of performances in our city varies by event, but stick it out and you might be surprised. Last night I went to a Mariachi Christmas Concert where an 11-year-old boy in a middle school band sang a song so pure and beautifully that it made the concert well worth the trip.

If you need more information about any of the events let me know. And remember, car-pooling is good for the environment.

Highly recommended
